Ethnic Minority Business Development Programs
Ethnic Minority Business Training and Mentoring Program
For the fifth year we delivered an innovative project to support ethnic minority entrepreneurs establishing small businesses. Participants received training on core business elements and were linked with mentors who were established ethnic minority business owners. The program has led to the creation of several new businesses in Ottawa each year. For more information contact office@spcottawa.on.ca..
Coalition of Ethnic, Visible Minority and Aboriginal Business Support Service Providers (CEVMA)
Through our leadership, community organizations who provide technical assistance for ethnic minority and Aboriginal business development have come together to form a collaboration table. The group is working to address gaps in business development services and to improve access to support for small business development among populations which faces significant economic exclusion. In March 2010 CEVMA and the Social Planning Council of Ottawa released a report of gaps in the provision of business development services in Ottawa for ethnic minority and Aboriginal entrepreneurs. The group is working to implement improved mentoring for ethnic minority and Aboriginal entrepreneurs in Ottawa. For information about the next meeting, contact office@spcottawa.on.ca.
